The eBook I'm trying to use says it is "in use", what does this mean?
Answer
When the library buys an ebook, the vendors grant us a limited number of licenses for it.
Each license just means, like a book, the number of copies available to be used. Occasionally when all the licenses are being viewed, an ebook will be unavailable until someone is finished with it.
If you can't access a book, wait and try to access it later, when the other students are finished using it.
